The world of HoverGrease is a bio-cyberpunk dystopian future Earth, where mankind has unlocked many of the secrets of the human genome. It’s a world over-saturated with AI, cybernetic enhancements, and biotechnology. Where mutations are the newest trend.
Familiar gameplay with a twist
If you are looking for a game that mixes elements from classic titles such as Quake, Smash TV, Team Fortress, GTA (2) or Counter-Strike, with more modern hero-based concepts found in games such as Overwatch, Apex Legends or League of Legends, this is HoverGrease!
Inspired by 90’s pop-culture
With strong artistic influences from popular 90’s shows such as TMNT, Biker Mice from Mars, Dragon Ball Z and X-Men, HoverGrease is set in a neon-futuristic world, where human-animal mutations are a possibility.
Pick from 12 mutants, each with their own unique arsenal of weapons and attacks — play with Kimmy for rockets, Madeye Bull or Piggy for melee dash-and-slash, snipe your enemy with Foxy or Billy-Bo, or support the team with Labrat Perry.

3 game modes | 18 maps | PvP & Co-op
You can play HoverGrease in single player or co-op Survival Mode for up to 6 players. Or jump over to the 5v5 team objective multiplayer in Spotlight Control or Beacon Defence game modes.
Split-screen couch mode (up to 4 gamepads)
HoverGrease offers split-screen gameplay for up to 4 players, on all platforms. Locked to gamepad controls only for all 4 players.
Coming to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation
HG controls have been developed for both Mouse+Keyboard and Gamepads (twin-stick).
- PC: all networking is done on our private server (store independent)
- Xbox: the game will be compatible with both Xbox One and Series X
- PlayStation: the game will be compatible with both PS4 and PS5
Easy to pick up, hard to master
HoverGrease is incredibly easy to pick up.
Despite its top-down perspective widely associated with MOBAs, HoverGrease playes more like a shooter (WASD+mouse or twin-stick gamepad). Skills are more important than ‘builds’, but strategy and teamwork trump both.
FAQ: What if I don’t really play top-down action games?
That’s ok, if you play FPS or 3rd person games, HoverGrease will feel natural. Don’t believe us? Join our Discord server!
Skills only, no pay-to-win

There is no progression system, all players have access to the same weapons. There is no way to pay-to-win.
Casual & Ranked game modes

HoverGrease is a new and sci-fi looking top-down shooter where you battle against other players for glory. The movement is sublime, the music is neat, the character design is very unique, and the gameplay is what really keeps you playing. Insanely fun!
Has a good “oldschool” vibe character design-wise. A good mixture of an FPS like idea translated to MOBA. Knowing this game was made by two people has me absolutely shocked, because it looks fantastic, having this information in mind! I’m looking forward for new characters and whatever else they come up with!
